Brighton Apothecary is run by Sarah Flower, Marion Mackonochie, Jessie Martelhof and Maud Freemantle. We are enthusiastic about encouraging others to discover herbs and improve their health.
Sarah Flower trained at Middlesex University and qualified in 2003. She developed an interest in herbs after suffering from repeated chest infections that failed to respond to antibiotics. Her particular interests include skin conditions and digestive problems. Please see her website Medical Herbalist Sussex for details of her herbal practice and Salvia Botanicals for her natural skincare products.
Marion Mackonochie trained at Middlesex University after a career in science publishing and a first degree studying pharmacology and physiology. She has always been interested in health and figuring out what works, and discovered herbs after getting disillusioned with an approach to health that only considers pharmaceutical drugs as a solution. She is particularly interested in hormonal problems and anxiety. Please see her website for further info: Field Remedies.
Jessie qualified with a first degree in herbal medicine From Lincoln College in 2017. She is a herbalist who is passionate about supporting people to take their health back into their own hands using holistic approaches which address the root causes not just the symptoms. Jessie is also a botany and wild medicinal plant enthusiast and regularly takes groups out on plant walks as well as leading talks and workshops on herbal medicine.
Maud Freemantle trained at The School of Phytotherapy having previously studied for an arts degree. After the birth of her son Maud was interested in discovering a more gentle approach to health and wellbeing. She is especially interested in digestion and how problems with digestion are associated with many chronic health problems such as allergy and inflammatory conditions.
